GWM is preparing to launch a brand-new Haval H7 that looks nothing like the version carrying the same name that it currently sells. ‎What makes the new H7 different
‎The H7 currently sold in Australia is a simple front-wheel-drive hybrid SUV.
‎The new version is a completely different vehicle, and will only be sold with all-wheel drive, using GWM's Hi4 system; the brand's method of combining a petrol engine with electric motors to add grip and punch.

‎Buyers will get to choose between two power options, a regular hybrid or a plug-in hybrid (PHEV), both using the same 1.5-litre turbo petrol engine, but with the electric motors and battery sizes being different in their performance.

‎The hybrid version is expected to produce around 182kW of power, allowing a 0-100km/h sprint in around 7 seconds.
‎The plug-in version is much more powerful, with announced outputs of up to 320kW, reducing that sprint time to under 5 seconds.

‎The PHEV also carries a much larger battery, allowing more than 100km of electric-only driving before the petrol engine needs to kick in, with a combined driving range of more than 800km on paper.

‎The new H7 will launch as a five-seat model. GWM has confirmed a longer, seven-seat version will also launch, likely coming some time later in 2027. The bigger version will be longer than well-known seven-seat rivals like the Kia Sorento, giving GWM a real seven-seat option that sits below its larger, more rugged Tank 500.
