MG Go: New Electric Hot Hatch coming in 2027
MG has unveiled a concept car called the MG Go at the Goodwood Festival of Speed. This concept gives us our first proper glimpse at the MG 2; a small EV due to launch in 2027. The MG 2 is set to compete in the hot-hatch segment against the Renault 5 and Mini Cooper.
What is the MG Go?
The MG Go is a concept car, meaning it is a precursor to a production model due to launch later on. The MG Go concept has joined another concept car; the more luxury orientated MG Cyber SUV at the Goodwood Festival of Speed. (autocar)
MG's Chief designer Jozef Kaban revealed to Autocar that the design is very close to what the final production cars will look like. He even stated that it is the 'production car dressed for Goodwood'. (autocar)
What do we know about the MG Go/MG2 ?
Body style: Small electric hatchback ("supermini")
It is set to launch in 2027 and will be smaller in size compared to the current MG3, with a length of 4 meters. (autocar)

Why is this concept important?
MG wants the Go to be associated with image and sportiness, rather than value and practicality. The company's product director David Allison stated that the fashionable small-car market is one that MG has "long sought to enter". Jozef Kaban also states that the design has a sporting feel to it that recalls historic MG's such as the MG B, but it is not aiming to be retro. (autocar) He hopes that it will become an iconic model for MG in the future.

The car was created in MG's design studio based in London, England, so it is very much a British designed supermini. MG want the car to appeal to British buyers, but Allison also stated that the 'heritage' holds more value outside of the UK, such as in India, than it does in Britain.

The exact battery size/power, range, cost, 0-60 time, max power, interior and many other details. This information is yet to be revealed closer to the 2027 launch date.
